The public relations office of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced on Monday that the IRGC naval forces became suspected of a cargo ship while patrolling the waters near the island of Lesser Tunb in the eastern Persian Gulf.
The IRGC naval forces conducted a search on the consignment of the ship and found 43 thousand litters of illegally obtained diesel fuel onboard.
The diesel fuel had been produced on the Iranian soil and the smugglers had intended to sell it to a foreign vessel.
The captain of the ship along with three other sailors were also arrested and handed over to judicial authorities in the southern province of Hormozgan.
